Paintings

My artworks follow my inner states. At times they reflect the outer world, at other times my inner world. The process of creating, instead of the end result, has become the most important part for me. Over the years I have discovered it to be healing, clarifying, calming, mystifying and energizing.

The artworks aren't complete until a viewer adds his or her own resonance to the work. I enjoy hearing what stories come up for people as they look at my work.

Living Sacred Geometry

Picture
Living Sacred Geometry, Solo Exhibit at 8x8 Studio, Daajingiids, Queen Charlotte, BC
November 1 - 30, 2019

Chanting mantras while standing in front of a blank canvas, slowly but surely triangles appear. A mysterious process. An invisible guide shows me the way. A meditative mind, receptive to softly whispered instructions. Creating lines, forming triangles, circles, squares, rectangles and sometimes a 'Bindu' (small dot) to complete the image.

No measuring tools are invited. This geometry is crooked, off centre and alive.

Slowly but surely 'Yantras' appear on the canvas.

Into the Unknown

Picture
"Into the Unknown", solo exhibit at Queen B's Cafe Gallery, Queen Charlotte, BC
May 12 - June 14, 2018
Opening: May 12, 2-4pm

One year ago I had the honour to witness the transition and transformation of a friend as she let go of this earthly plane. I visited her during her last month in the hospital, and after each visit I processed the intense emotions, feelings and experiences I had, by picking up the brush and letting the brush speak.

As each painting surfaced, words would surge forward, sometimes like a mantra while painting. Sometimes the words would be there while I visited my friend. Sometimes a poem would be shared.

This series of artworks are the expression and witness of our journey as my friend travelled and surrendered more and more into the unknown.
